NIXI has approached ILUGDelhi to help them enable/setup Indic Language Domain Names.
What are the requirements for enabling Indic Language Domain Name?
- Client support - how various types of clients (Web Browsers, FTP Clients etc.) have/will support i18n domains?
- Resolver Libraries - How various resolvers are/will support the name resolution?
- Look up and review the DNS RFC for i18n support
- Look up and review the Whois RFC for i18n support
- Look at the W3C? relevant documents
- Look at the punicode implementation
- Review other country specific implementation (e.g. China)
- Prepare a position paper
- If required/warranted create new RFC(s)
- Security - Phising issues?
- Invite participation from interested parties - Domain Registrars, DNS Service Providers, ISPs, Developers, Others
