Announcement

This is a workshop conducted jointly by the Computer Society of India (CSI), Ghaziabad chapter, ABES Enginering College, the Indian Linux Users' Group, Delhi (ILUG-D), Freed.in, and Sarai, CSDS. It will be held at the Ideal Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad, on Nov. 15th, 2008, from 10.30am to 2pm.

This workshop is slightly different in that instead of students, it is targeted at some 40-odd faculty members expected to attend.

Workshop schedule

  • 11.00am-11.30am: Free software: What is it, and how best to make use of it: GoraMohanty

  • 11.30am-noon: The Indian Linux Users' Group, Delhi: SudevBarar

  • Noon-1pm: Open Source Software in use: SupreetSethi, others
    • Operating systems: Linux, FreeBSD? , etc.
    • System services: Mail, Databases, etc.
    • Rapid web development: Django, RoR?
    • Frontier areas of technology: Mobiles, embedded devices, robotics.
    • FOSS in education.

  • Post 1pm: Lunch
